3. Re: Pu'u O Kila Lookout. Pretty much just a few steps from the parking lot. You can do the trail if you want, but that lookout is right there. You could, if you want, continue on the Pihea trail it skirts the top of the back wall of Kalalau valley. The views are a little different as you keep going.

Visit the Kalalau Lookout, the Pu'o O Kila Lookout (walk a tenth of a mile down the Pihea Vista Trail for a GREAT view of Kalalau Valley), the Pu'u Hinihina Lookout, the Waimea Canyon Lookout, and the Waipo'o Falls Lookout. The trail starts at the end of Waimea Canyon Drive (550) at the Pu'u o Kila Lookout. Views of Kalalau Valley. Pihea Trail intersects Alakai Swamp Trail and continues to the Kilohana Lookout. Views of Ha'ena and the North Shore are visible from Kilohana, clouds permitting. This trail is known to be very muddy.
